"Of the quality of Mr. Blackwood’s genius there can be no dispute; for no one has even approached the skill, seriousness, and minute fidelity with which he records the overtones of strangeness in ordinary things and experiences." (H. P. Lovecraft)
Algernon Blackwood (14 March 1869 - 10 December 1951), was an English short story writer and novelist, one of the most prolific writers of ghost and weird stories in the history of those genres. In the short story "The Man Who Found Out", a researcher goes on an expedition to find "The Tablets of the Gods", which have plagued his dreams since his boyhood. He finds them, and the horrible truth of humanity's true purpose in the universe.
